Al Gore

One of the most prominent climate change activists is former U.S. Vice President, Al Gore.

Gore’s Climate Reality Project conducts training, campaigns and media events around the world in an effort to solve the global warming crisis.

He is the founder and chairman of the organization.

How do we slow, stop, or even reverse the increase of climate change?

  • Reducing greenhouse gases and the burning of fossil fuels is our best bet. To do this, we can get our energy from sources other than natural gas, oil, and coal.

  • Wind and solar power, for example, do not burn fossil fuels, but provide a good alternative source of energy. Although cost will always remain a factor.

  • Some techniques do not stop the manufacture of greenhouse gases, but stop them from entering the atmosphere or reduce their effects.

  • Effective ways to reduce the risk include biomass energy, wind and water energy, geothermal and solar energy, carbon and methane containment, energy efficient and green buildings and vehicles, and nuclear energy.

Gore also spends his time producing TED talks. One of his latest talks in 2016 describes his optimism of a sustainable future Earth. Three key questions were the focus of this talk: do we need to change, can we change, and will we change? He concluded we do need to change, we have already started to, and will likely continue, with countries around the world adding more capacity with renewable energy.

When any great moral challenge is resolved into choice between right and wrong, the outcome is preordained because of who we are. That is why we are going to win this." – Al Gore
